Nathan is a very sweet, calm, and gentle boy. We were at the park today and this boy, Angel (he was no Angel), was mad because he wanted to play ball with some kids. He was crying and his Grandma was doing nothing to help him. My little Nate just happened to be next to Angel and because A was so sad, mad, and frustrated he pushed Nate down. We don't even know this kid. Poor Nate, not only did he fall on his face and knee, but he slid...there was blood and tears!!! You know what the Grandma said to her little Angel, "Angel, it's not your fault. It was an accident!" If I didn't have a kid who was bleeding and crying, I would have pushed her down. But I'm much like Nate...gentle, sweet, and calm.
Nate and I sat on a bench for a couple minutes. He was ready to go after much needed tears and cleaning up. I told him that I wouldn't let Angel hurt him again. I said, "Nate, do you want me to stay with you while you climb the stairs and go down the slide?" He said, "Yes!" But the BULLY ANGEL had other ideas.
He kept coming close to Nate and Nate would start crying. Grandma kept saying to Angel, "It's okay! It wasn't your fault! He's just overreacting!" After a few times of this Grandma, who by the way never apologized or asked how Nathan was, said to Angel and the other Grand kids..."I guess it's time for us to leave. It looks like we have overstayed."
I know there are going to be many times that this will happen in Nate's life, but I don't think it will be any easier. I felt like a UFC fighter. I was ready to rumble!!!! But that's not me...what happens to us after we have kids?---Can you picture Carrie Bradshaw pausing and looking out the window?---That's me right now.

Thank you Carrie Bradshaw! You know what they say about boys named Angel? They are more likely to be delinquent!
